Dr Vasana Bhaskaran

Dr Vasana Bhaskaran completed her medical degree at the University of Adelaide in 2018. Following graduation, she pursued her strong interest in sexual health, undertaking a 12-month term as a Senior Medical Officer at the Canberra Sexual Health Centre.

Vasana’s commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health then took her to Alice Springs, Coober Pedy and Ceduna, where she provided comprehensive care to local communities. These experiences have shaped her thoughtful, culturally responsive approach to medicine.

Vasana practices with a holistic, patient-centred philosophy and is dedicated to creating an inclusive, respectful and culturally safe environment for all patients.

Her clinical interests include:

  • Chronic disease management
  • Preventive and lifestyle medicine
  • LGBTQIA+ health and sexual health (including PrEP prescribing and shared gender-affirming care)
  • Women’s health, including contraceptive counselling, Implanon NXT insertion and removal, and menopause management
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health

Vasana enjoys the diversity and continuity that general practice offers and welcomes patients of all ages and stages of life.

Outside of work, she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, exploring watercolour and lino-printing, and discovering Melbourne’s vibrant live music scene.
